Pal Around with The Arc: Respite Activities – Offers a vital mental health break for both caregivers and those they support by creating opportunities for individuals with disabilities to unwind, rejuvenate, and engage with the community. These activities are eligible for respite reimbursement through Desert Regional Center. CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES BELOW.

Lion Habitat Ranch – Spend the morning with The Arc of Nevada as we Pal Around and connect to wildlife, including majestic lions, ostriches, parrots, and tortoises, and be inspired about conservation.   When: Saturday, May 24th. Meet at the main gate at 9:30 am.  We will enter the Ranch at 10:00 am. Lunch will be at 12:00 pm (included) and pick up at 1:00 pm.  Cost is $125 and covered by the Desert Regional Center Respite voucher. Email [email protected] for cash price. Limited availability. Must RSVP by noon on Wednesday, May 21st.

Caffeine & Conversation – Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and join us as we meet with friends before starting the day.  Each person attending will receive one free drink, courtesy of Foxtail Coffee Co. Tuesday, May 13th at Foxtail Coffee Co located at 9490 W. Russell Rd. Ste. 101 in Las Vegas from 9 am – 10 am.  Give us a heads up that you’ll be coming, so we get a big enough table. Digital Literacy – The Arc of Nevada is proud to be chosen as a national partner with AT&T to support digital literacy among people with intellectual and developmental disabilities by hosting in-person/virtual training sessions on topics such as digital citizenship, cyber security, email basics, and more. Tuesday, April 8th – Let’s talk about Video Conferencing!  In today’s world, a lot of meetings are now being held via the internet.  Participants will build skills and confidence to engage in online meetings . Class will be held at Betty’s Village located at 7755 W. Oquendo Rd. in Las Vegas.  Sign-in starts at 4:30 pm and class will start at 5:00 pm.  Food will be served, so email [email protected] to make sure we have enough food.

Wings for Autism/Wings for All. – This program gives families and aviation professionals the confidence to take to the skies with ease by providing an airport “rehearsal” as well as a presentation on the aircraft features and in-flight safety protocols. Vocational Services – The Arc of Nevada assists adults and students with disabilities in obtaining meaningful employment that aligns with their goals for independence and economic self-sufficiency. We offer a variety of services, such as job seeking, community-based assessments, and in-classroom instruction, all aimed at promoting disability inclusion in the workforce. This program is officially recognized by the Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR).

Self-Advocacy – It is essential for individuals with disabilities to develop the skills necessary to communicate their needs, make informed decisions, take responsibility for their choices, and understand their rights to ensure their voices are heard. The Arc of Nevada offers training for people with disabilities to master the art of self-advocacy, enabling them to ask questions and express their needs in various settings, such as classrooms, workplaces, or when engaging with legislators.

Legislative Process Workshop: How to Advocate Using NELIS – Participants will learn how to find out who their legislator is, search for legislation, and advocate for what they need. This class will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at Betty’s Village at 11:30 am. Pizza will be served. Must email [email protected] to make sure we have enough food. Participants will gain skills necessary to navigate the legislative process through NELIS, ask questions, make informed decisions, and communicate how legislation will affect them.

Jingle Bell Brunch – The holidays are a magical time. A time to gather with family & friends, visit with Santa, and open presents. But for some children, these activities can be challenging due to intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The Arc of Nevada invites families with children who have a disability to join us for a morning of games, craft activities, family time, and a visit with Santa while enjoying a yummy brunch. More information is coming soon. Registration to attend will be available in October.
